7 Easy and Nutritious Snack Recipes to Satisfy Your Taste Buds
Snacks are something small and delicious made to cheer up your afternoon. Make them healthy, and you got my attention. These nutritious snack recipes will surprise your taste buds and satisfy all your cravings.
No doubt, my favorite time of the day is snack time.
But are there any healthy and nutritious snacks that taste good at the same time?
You’ve come to the right place. There is a ton of healthy bites varieties you can make or buy.
Let’s first understand what we should look for when it comes to nutritious snacks.
What is the perfect snack made of?
A satisfying snack should be nutritious, quick, and tasty.
You desire that extra energy boost to get you to the rest of the day. But there are no more than five to zero minutes to “prepare” it. And you want it to bring you joy.
A nutritionally-balanced snack consists of protein-rich food, fiber, healthy fats, and a little (or not that little) carbs. The protein and fiber will give you satiety, whether the fats and carbs will bring you joy and fullness.
Should you meal prep?
Some of the snacks on the list below need no prep. But you still have to buy them in advance, if the café next door serves only muffins.
On the other hand, others need no more than 5 minutes of preparation. And a reminder to take them with you.
Let me know down in the comments if you tend to forget the food you prepared at home. I’ll raise my hand on this one.
Snack prepping doesn’t take as much time as you may think. If you want to grab a muffin from the coffee store next door, probably you’ll have to wait at least 7-10 minutes.
If you meal prep home, it’ll take you no more than five minutes. Then, you’ll eat something nutritious, tasty, and different: something you love.
Invest those five minutes before bed or before going to work in meal prepping. You’ll thank yourself. It’s life-changing.
Does your snack have to be 100% healthy?
Ummm no. Remember, the perfect snack consists of protein, fiber, some fats, and carbs. You can still have chocolate, nut butter, etc., and call it a nutritious snack.
Find the balance between healthy and fun. Don’t let your fitness goals obsess your life. You are a breathing, hard-working human being that still can find time and motivation to live better (healthier).
Your new habits should only improve your life.
Start with the basics.
When you’re trying to apply something new to your current lifestyle, try to start with the basics. Learn some simple combos, and then you can improve and make them more fun.
My snack ideas are perfect staple basics. Start simple, don’t put too much pressure, see what you enjoy and what you’re willing to stick to.

1. Fruit + nut butter - a forever favorite (and satiating) combo.
Everyone loves the fresh and flavorful taste of fruit. I know you do too. Combined with your favorite nut butter, now that’s a love story.
Grab an apple or a banana, peanut, almond, cashew, or whatever nut butter you adore. Add some crackers or put it on a toast for extra satisfaction. Done - it’s quick, easy, and yummy.

Hummus and carrots are one of my all-time favorite snacks. It’s nutritious, full of taste, needs no preparation to be made, and can be different every time.

Here’s another snack with so many variations. Grab your favorite rice cakes. My go-to choice is the plain one, as I love experimenting with the toppings.
Put on some cottage cheese you love. Snack ready. Add tomatoes, or peaches, strawberries, whatever your heart desires. Delightful snack ready.
4. Protein bar
Now here’s a quickie. Not even a real recipe. No preparation is needed. Go to the nearest store and grab a protein bar. Experiment with the different brands and kinds, and find the ones you love.
There are so many varieties of protein bars these days. I bet you’ll find a taste you love and will keep you satiated for the rest of your afternoon.
My favorite ones are from Alani Nu. I usually order a whole box and get a few in my bag. This way, I always have something nutritious and delicious to snack, when I’m in no mood to prep.
5. Smoothie
There’s no doubt why smoothie has found a spot on this list. It’s super quick to make, has so many varieties and flavors.
Also, you can add more veggies or greens to your diet without even tasting them. You’re getting all the fiber and good stuff in numerous different flavors.
Here are some of my favorite combos.
The berry king – includes a mix of berries, a handful of spinach, a spoonful of nut butter, yogurt, and some ice. Top with chia seeds.
A tropical getaway (perfect for a Friday afternoon) – a choice of pineapple or mango (why not both?!), vanilla protein, and some coconut water.
The healthy chocolate lover has only four simple ingredients: chocolate protein, banana, nut butter, your choice of milk. Blend and enjoy this flavorful chocolate symphony.
6. Yogurt + berries
When you’re choosing yogurt, look for one with less added sugar. A go-to choice is a plain one, but you can always get vanilla or strawberry. Add some blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries.
If you have a sweet tooth, a splash of maple syrup is the secret ingredient. For extra satiety add hemp hearts or flax meal. Voila! You just made a quick and delicious treat to freshen up your afternoon.
7. Overnight oats
A fiber-rich snack you can make in five minutes.
You have a simple base of oats and milk. Add some chia or flax seeds if you like them.
Also, you can boost up the protein by adding some protein powder. Top with milk, shake well, and leave them in the fridge for a night.
Once ready in the morning, let the fun begin. You can add fruit, nuts, nut butter, yogurt. Grab it in your bag and enjoy a satiating and nutritious snack any time of the day.
